After only a few months activity,
we decided to look back in order to formulate our spirit...
We spoke of super powers in our manifesto...
What are they exactly?

After half year of hard work, travelling to Italy and the USA,
ladies and gents...

Here are the Puff & Flock 09 trends,
aka : our visual CV

To be continued...

Puff & Flock Mobile Briefcase - Work in Progress

Story reminder... As an itinerant group, we wanted to design a tool that would follow us in our adventures, to transport inspiration and ideas, a mobile box that opens up to show and debate, experiment and discover...

wow wow wow (a rendered view)

This is coming together thanks to Tom Ballhatchet (pictured), a great designer and friend who sorted all the annoying technical bits out for us... (if you thought MacGyver was a myth, you were wrong)

Unfortunately the finishing of this wonder of design will have to be delayed because of a missing part (our lovely laser cutting technician lost a key bit... the back of the whole suitcase, and left on a well deserved holiday leaving us in our frustration. Awesome.)

No Milan this year for Puff and Flock Mobile Briefcase (or maybe we bring half of it? let's see), but certainly a Milan design week FEATURING us, the Puff & Flock Ladies, super soon. More info the next few days on what we've been up to, leaving this blog to dry pretty much...

Jenny, I hope you are having strawberry margheritas with your tacos in Mexico, we miss you so come back asap. Don't forget my cactus.

MA Textile Futures at CSM : Year 1 Final Biomimicry group work sample

Hey this is Amelie reporting live from the teaching world... I would like to show here some absolutely great work by my group of students in MA Textile Futures year 1 at CSM... They worked as a team of 9 people, under my supervision, like a trend agency to produce inspiring imagery linked to Biomimicry (taking inspiration from nature's principles to inject into design solutions and surfaces). This is only an extract from the great work they produced. Most of them had never done any video work before... :

Anemone Hands : a visual definition of biomimicry

The braided suit : inspired by bio-luminescent underwater creatures

ideas for these clips by Dana Haim and Laerke Hooge Anderson.

below : the students team of 9 called themselves TOTEM 9 and came up with a nice trend book display.

Fashion is nothing compare to Textile but...

At Puff & Flock, we advocate body and soul that textiles is much more than fashion and this post is not about to challenge this position.

But for once, I will shy a little to let you discover a new fashion label, just for a pure rapture of eyes. Kristina Gorina, a talented russian designer based in Paris has just launched her own label. Subtilitly of materials and refinement of the cut for a casual chic silhouette, this is what can be achieved when fashion use textiles at their best.

"The" Puff and Flock briefcase model

Briefcase model design by Jenny Leary and Amelie Labarthe

This is how we will introduce ourselves and what we do if you physically get to meet Puff & Flock...
We sort of have a big admiration for Mary Poppins (well I do...) and got inspired by the old school annoying salesmen knocking on your door to sell you all sorts of things. We are not trying to sell anything but hope to transmit a bit of the spirit of what we do and what inspires us. We carry moods and some of our "Stuff" material library samples. Real suitcase happening in a near future as this genius piece is only foamboard. We live for low tech engineering...
Puff & Flock is an itinerant group, we make the place wherever we go. Our next station is NYC, and Milan... Meet you somewhere on the road, fingers crossed and more details from Jenny soon.

"road works"

Sample from Sainsbury's toy department

I have this fascination about how bad and unaccurate the kids road carpets look compared to reality. I want to find connections that don't exist and make it so I get to see the space some other way than this unavoidable axonometric view of the buildings and parking lots on the flat surface, because this is not how life looks like.
All the roads are not nicely looped and linked like it appears on the carpet. I want to play but I am bored with the closed circuit.

It seems to all be about the ways.

The way you go, the way you say things, the way things part.
There supposely is always a way...
That seems to be the only thing that never leaves us and keep us going.
Accidents or luck? roundabouts or time loss? Crossroad or diversion?
I say highway. Get lost and wait for the sign to guide you. Of course then you desperately need to pee and the gas station is nowhere near. Typical. I need to know how many kilometers it will be until relief.

Amelie, finally posting something here (ready since october)
visual surface philosophy / story-teller.
as shallow
and sweetly inconsistent as it seems...
